Mary J. Ricker Personal Bio

I have worked in the Kinnelon Borough Clerk’s Office for 24 years.  I started as an Administrative Assistant to the Borough Clerk/Treasurer.  On 1/1/85 I became the Deputy Borough Clerk/Treasurer, on 6/10/88 I became the Acting Borough Clerk/Treasurer and on 1/1/89 I was appointed as Borough Clerk /Treasurer.  On 6/21/89 I successfully completed the courses and passed the State Exam to become a Registered Municipal Clerk, on 9/30/91 I became a Certified Public Manager by completing a 2 year course giving by the State of New Jersey, Department of Personnel and Rutgers, the State University, on 6/16/93 I became a Certified Municipal Finance Officer by completing the necessary courses and passing the State Exam.  Along with my title as Registered Municipal Clerk, Certified Public Manager and Certified Municipal Finance Officer I am Kinnelon’s Municipal Improvement Search Officer, Subdivision Search Officer, Agent of Central Purchase, Investment Officer, Water & Sewer Utility Collector, Public Agency Compliance Officer and Violations Bureau Clerk. Kinnelon has been very unique up until now, as Kinnelon has not had an Administrator.

I have been an active member of the Butler/Tri Boro Rotary Club since 1993.  I was the Rotary President in 2000/2001 and was honored in becoming a Paul Harris Fellow in 2002.  I am a life time Auxiliary member of the George P. Siek Butler Tri-Boro VFW Post 8096, which my husband is also a life time member.

I have been very fortunate to keep things stable in my work environment as I have worked my entire career under the direction of one Mayor, Glenn L. Sisco.

With regards to my personnel life, my husband, Robert, and I just celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary.  Rob and I met when we attended Butler High School; we were in the last class to graduate from Butler H.S. who lived in Kinnelon.  We have one daughter, Barbara, who is married to Paul Marion, and reside in Bloomingdale.  I have two grandchildren, Tyler R. Ricker, age 6, and Amber L. Marion, age 4. 

My retirement date is January 17, 2007 but my last day of work will be June 9, 2006.  I will use my vacation time as well as my accumulated sick time towards my retirement.  My husband is also retiring from the Kinnelon Board of Education effective September 30, 2006.  We will be residing on Blown Timber Road, Newton, West Virginia where we own 78 Acres.
