The general meeting of the Tri-Boro area Chamber of Commerce was called to order at 12:15 p.m. with a salute to the flag.
All officers were present.

Reminder of a member to member discount throughout the Chamber of Commerce. Support the families overseas by bringing misc. items to the Riverdale Armory. any member recruiting a new member to the Chamber is entitled to a free lunch at Lina's at any meeting. OCTOBER - Fire Prevention Month

Thank you for attending the september meeting.

We kicked off the fall session of the Tri-Boro Area Chamber with a productive meeting as we are beggining to plan our Raffle Ticket Fundraiser (More Info Below).

Please join us October 10th for our monthly meeting at our regularly scheduled location. Our guest speaker will be Erica Gitin from SERVPRO OF WAYNE.

The Tri-Boro Area Chamber of Commerce Needs Your Help!

We are selling our Annual 200 Club Raffle Tickets for a drawing at our Meeting on November 14, 2007.

We are requesting that Our Members take a book of five tickets and sell them prior to the drawing.

NOTE: This is our main fund raiser this year. Please help make it a success!

AUGUST

Thank you for all who attended the Riverdale Fire Department 100th Anniversary Celebration. The Tri-Boro Area Chamber presented a plaque (right) to Fire Chief Pat Cleary August 24th, 2007 to honor their service to the Riverdale Community.

The Riverdale Fire Department held their 100th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, August 25th.

MAY

We would also like to thank the National Guard, 2nd Battalion 113th Infantry Reserve Unit from Riverdale for their very informative presentation.
Here is a recap:

Many members in the National Guard join and expect to be active for two weeks per year to serve their term. Most of them have normal lives with regular jobs, mortgages on their homes, car payments, tuition for their children, etc. When the government began activating our National Guard and sending them into active duty and overseas for up to one year at a time, it caused many hardship cases. Unlike the regular enlisted servicemen, these reserves had to serve their country and keep their households afloat back home. They did not anticipate being pulled away from everyday life for so long. That is where the family support group has helped all the families involved. The Riverdale Armory is now hosting the weekly Tri-County Cruisers Auto Show every Thursday Night (Click to read). The Armory will raise some money for family support by selling refreshments.

Howard Ball - Chaplain for the Riverdale Fire Deparment with Guest Speaker, Pat Cleary - Riverdale Fire Chief.

Thank you for all who attended our march meeting. We would like to thank Pat Clearly, the Riverdale Fire Chief for his interesting presentation on fire safety. He also spoke about businesses installing DOUBLE KEY LOCK BOXES on the outside of their buildings. Entry to this lock box would require a key from the local fire department and a separate key from the local police.

Inside the lock box, all businesses should keep:

• an emergency contact list,
• an entry key to the premises,
• clear instructions, explaining how to disengage the alarm system.

By following these suggestion your business can avoid unnecessary damage caused by police and fire departments, who have no alternative in most cases, but to break down a door or window.

As a local representative of the business community, the Tri-Boro Area Chamber is currently looking into opportunities to work with both the fire and police departments in our boroughs to learn more about lockbox purchase and installation. As a source of revenue and incentive for new, prospective, and current members, we are also looking into the possibility of becoming a distributor of the lock boxes, purchasing in bulk, which will be a cost savings to all of you. Once we have all the information in place, we will report back to our members.
